Perhaps best known as the “Doritos Girl,” model and actress Ali Landry sure has accomplished a lot in her short lifetime. Landry won the title of Miss USA in 1996, has been host on several TV shows and featured in some of the most-watched Superbowl commercials of all-time. Additionally, she was listed as one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People (1998) and FHM Magazine's 100 Sexiest Women in the World (2000), as well as Playboy Magazine's Babe of the Month in February 2003. But before all this, Landry was a Sorority sister in Kappa Delta.
Landry was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, on July 21, 1973. She attended The University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) where she studied Mass Communications and was an honorary Sister in Kappa Delta.
While Landry worked as a commentator at the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant, she met the pageant's emcee, actor Mario Lopez. Landry and Lopez became engaged in Summer 2003 and got married on April 24, 2004. A month later they filed for divorce.
Ali currently lives in Los Angeles, CA and spends her free time participating in sports and outdoor activities. She also participates in Special Olympics and Susan Kohman Breast Cancer Foundation charity programs.
Kappa Delta Kappa Delta (ΚΔ) was the first sorority founded at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University), in Farmville, Virginia. Today, Kappa Delta has over 230,000 members, more than 14,000 undergraduate members in 140 active collegiate chapters. Kappa Delta also has more than 510 chartered alumni chapters.
Lenora Ashmore Blackiston, Mary Sommerville Sparks Hendricks, Julia Gardiner Tyler Wilson, and Sara Turner White founded Kappa Delta on the beliefs of friendship, fellowship, and sisterly love. Founding member, Julia Gardiner Tyler Wilson, was the granddaughter of the former U.S. President John Tyler.
