By Christina Nicole Perhaps best known as the fictional young billionaire Chuck Bass’s home on the CW 11’s Gossip Girl, The Empire Hotel is today one of the most recognized hotels in NYC. With its iconic neon “Empire Hotel” sign, the building truly sets itself apart from the rest. Empire Rooftop bar has been getting a lot of buzz since a recent refurbishment. After a night on the town with my sister who currently is working with this venue, it was the perfect opportunity to check-out this NYC hot spot (and look for Chuck Bass).
Nestled on the 12th floor of this luxury hotel, the 3,000 square foot rooftop bar can best be described as sleek and sophisticated. You’ll find three separate terraces, three separate bars and over a dozen VIP sections. The rooftop’s selling point is hands-down the magnificent views of Lincoln Center and Central Park. Although many of the rooftop bars I’ve been to in Manhattan offer stunning views, this one in particular offers quite a eye-full based on its Upper-West side location. On this particular night (a Thursday) the crowd was mostly 35+ business professional or possibly attendees of a conference taking place at the hotel. The DJ spun an eclectic mix of tunes ranging from Top 40 to Hip-Hop to Reggaeton. Drinks are moderately priced (for Manhattan standards) at about $14/drink. I ordered the champagne and my usual vodka tonic, which did not disappoint.
Well, I never did find Chuck Bass (or a look-a-like for that matter). But, I did find another spectacular Manhattan rooftop that I’ll be sure to visit again.
