By Christina Nicole There’s nothing that excites me more than grabbing a bunch of my girlfriends on a hot summer day and heading DTS to Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant, NJ. It’s one of my favorite summer pastimes and a spot I’ve been known to frequent. Last summer, trips to this popular summer spot became part of a weekly ritual. This summer, I admit to not getting down the shore nearly as much as I’d like. I did, however, get to experience my first “Tiki Monday” this past week and this fun beach destination didn’t disappoint. My advice: Get an early start. If you arrive anytime after 12:00 noon, chances of securing a spot on the sand are slim to none. If you’re an early-riser like my friends and I and get there by 9:30 am like we did, not only will you be able to secure a great spot on the beach, you also may be fortunate enough to score free parking (as we did).
Martell’s Tiki Bar is made up of multiple sections: an upstairs bar, a downstairs bar, the private beach and indoor section. Beach-inspired foods and alcoholic beverages are served to a mostly 20-something crowd throughout the day. Some of the spots most popular alcoholic beverage includes Tiki Tea and Miami Vices (my personal favorite). However, plan to bring a lot of cash. Cover for the beach bar is typically $10 and drinks average $12 each. Let’s not forget the great music at Tiki Bar. On almost any given day at Tiki there’s a lineup of DJ’s that play anything from EDM, to Top 40, to Hip-Hop. Also, don’t be surprised if you see NJ reality TV personalities mingling amongst the crowds. Cast member of Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious oftentimes frequent this popular beach destination.

Have a day off and want to plan a fun day with friends down the shore? Visit Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant, NJ. Maybe I’ll even see you there.
