Miami is a city widely known for its glitz and glamour, rich culture, shopping and some of the best nightlife. I had the privilege of jetting down to this famed city last week with three of my closest girlfriends. Nothing could have prepared us for the crazy whirlwind of events that would ensue throughout the duration of our four-day trip. Here’s a glimpse of some of the famed spots we visited and recommendations on Miami’s best nightlife.
I was advised ahead of time that the place to stay when visiting Miami is South Beach and more specifically, Collins Avenue. Our group was lucky enough to find a great deal at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, which is ideally situated in this super glitzy area. The hotel had plenty of amenities including three restaurants, decent size guest rooms, a private beach, spa, outdoor pool, beach bar and Jet Ski rentals. If you plan to book at this hotel with a similar size group, plan on spending under $400 (including airfare). I would later learn that the super high-end Fountainebleau (located a block away) had twice as nice accommodations, but expect to pay twice the price.
Day one, my friends and I explored the hotel, laid out on the beach and dined at the popular sushi chain, Sushi Samba, which offers beautiful outdoor ambience (along with overpriced sushi). At the end of dinner, my friends and I had the privilege of meeting a well-known Miami based club promoter, Dilo Minden, who approached our table and whom we exchanged contact info with. He informed us if we decided to come out with him and his team he would take us out each night. “Taking care of us” we would soon learn meant free cover, dinner, bottle service, stretch limos and party busses, private tables and even access to a private fashion show. Sounds too good to be true, right?
The remainder of the trip we put in the hands of Dilo when it came to nightlife. Here’s a look at some of the fabulous clubs/venues we visited:
LIV Nightclub: Located in the Fountainebleau Hotel, this is one of the most hyped-up/talked about nightclubs in Miami. The super famous dance DJ Tiesto was the entertainment day one of our trip!
SET Nightclub: A small-scale version of LIV. Expect high-energy, dance music, risqué dancers and a trendy crowd.
Moaki Lounge: White tigers, pornography, sex toy displays and dancers dressed in bondage. A club like no other that truly blurs the lines between dance club and strip club.
The Shore Club: Gorgeous indoor/outdoor venue that provides a serene outdoor setting and luxury. Great spot for a more low key night or as a starting point.
The Shelbourne Hotel: Classy and elegant bar situated in this super high-end hotel. This venue provided the backdrop for the private fashion show we attended.
Arcadia Pool Party: Things don’t get as wild here as some of the Vegas pool parties I’ve previously attended, but expect a young, attractive crowd, a live DJ spinning hot beats, along with way overpriced drinks (were talking $20 cocktails here!)
