The beautiful ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority gathered this past Saturday evening for A Sisterhood United Under a Crescent Moon: An Evening in Support of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Sisters representing institutions throughout New Jersey came together to enjoy a fun evening of dancing, socializing and fine dining at the beautiful banquet facility, The Westwood, located in Garwood, NJ. Nearly 200 sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority came together with the common goal of raising $6,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The goal of the first annual banquet was to raise a substantial donation for St. Jude, which would make a big impact on the lives of the children they serve. The sisterhood also intends to become the premier fundraiser for St. Jude, through collective partnerships with reputable organizations.
Donations were raised through fundraising, sponsorships and a raffle that was held during the affair. Some of the big prizes of the night included tickets to an upcoming Mets/Phillies game, free admittance to the Liberty Science Center, as well as Yankee and Nets tickets. Beyond a decadent 4-course meal that was served, a DJ played popular hits and kept the sisters moving on the dance floor for the entire duration of the soiree. According to the coordinator of this year’s event, Jannese Torres, a high degree of preparation went into planning the gala, which involved a 15-member banquet committee. Planning spanned over the course of six months.
